Mihai Grigoraș, a young specialist doctor in oncology and pediatric hematology, is facing a paradoxical situation in Tulcea County, where he has been working for almost a year as an unskilled laborer in construction.

Although he graduated from the 'Carol Davila' University of Medicine in Bucharest and completed his residency, his specialization does not allow him to be employed at the County Emergency Hospital (SJU), which is facing a shortage of specialists. Grigoraș stated that, despite the official documents confirming that graduates of this specialization are certified as specialist doctors, the Ministry of Health does not grant them the right to practice freely in general pediatrics.

Emilia Stamate, the president of the Tulcea College of Physicians, highlighted the contradictions in the ministerial regulations and called for solutions for the employment of doctors with limited specializations in disadvantaged areas. Grigoraș expressed concern that oncology patients are forced to travel long distances for treatments, which can endanger their lives. SJU Tulcea has invested in modernizing the unit and offers incentives to attract specialists, but the problem of the shortage of medical staff remains unresolved.
