OMV Petrom has announced on the Bucharest Stock Exchange a five-year contract with Astra Bioplants Ltd for the purchase of pre-treated used oil, essential for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Deliveries will start in 2028 and the price will be based on a formula indexed to international quotations. The company has secured over 80% of the feedstock needed for the first stage of production at the SAF/HVO plant under construction. OMV Petrom is controlled by OMV Austria and the Romanian state.
