Lia Olguța Vasilescu attacks Siegfried Mureșan after his remark about her husband

Lia Olguța Vasilescu, mayor of Craiova and a Social Democratic leader, has launched a new attack on Siegfried Mureșan, the PNL-designated prime minister, after he told her to send her husband, MEP Claudiu Manda, to work. Mureșan was referring to Manda’s low attendance rate at the proceedings of the European Parliament.

In a message posted on Facebook, Vasilescu claims that Mureșan’s being German would be his “only” identifiable quality and accuses him of lacking a backbone, a sense of the ridiculous, insight, or patriotism. She also criticizes his lack of an economic program of his own, saying that he would have taken over Ilie Bolojan’s plan.

The Social Democrat also mocked Mureșan’s designation as prime minister, claiming that he behaved as though he were surprised that the president had taken him seriously. Vasilescu also criticized the decision to include him on the joint PSD-PNL list for the European Parliament elections.

The response came after Mureșan said that Vasilescu should send her husband to work, accusing Claudiu Manda of being one of the most absent MEPs. According to European Parliament data, his attendance at proceedings exceeds 25%. Manda replied that an MEP’s activity should be assessed primarily through efficiency and results, not just attendance.
