A 57-year-old nurse from the commune of Ionești, Gorj County, was sentenced to 7 years in prison for bribery and computer fraud. According to authorities, the woman was involved in illegal activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, fictitiously vaccinating individuals in exchange for sums of money ranging from 500 to 1,500 lei. She subsequently entered the names of these individuals into the database as being vaccinated. Police officers from the Criminal Investigation Service executed a prison warrant, and the nurse was taken to the Târgu Jiu Penitentiary to serve her sentence. This situation highlights issues related to corruption and fraud in the healthcare system during the health crisis.
