A nurse from Bratca, Bihor, was detained after she assaulted a young woman hospitalized in a center for people with disabilities, the incident sparking public outrage.

A 45-year-old nurse from the Bratca commune, Bihor County, was detained by police after being caught hitting a 20-year-old patient in a rehabilitation and recovery center. The incident, which took place on Sunday, was filmed and shared online, generating a public outcry. In the footage, the nurse uses a stick to hit the young woman, while another patient, a 36-year-old man, also assaults her. The victim suffered injuries that require between two and three days of medical care.

The police took notice of the incident and detained the nurse for 24 hours, after which she will be presented to the Prosecutor's Office. The man will undergo a psychiatric evaluation to assess his discernment. The General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Bihor has opened an internal investigation, suspending the nurse and evaluating the victim's condition. DGASPC emphasized that, although the nurse was known to be responsible, the incident could be the result of overwork caused by staff shortages at the center. Nevertheless, the institution firmly condemned any form of violence or abuse.
