A public notary from Timișoara has been sent to trial for tax evasion, being accused of harming the state budget by 1,535,078 lei by failing to pay taxes related to income from real estate transfers.

According to the Prosecutor's Office next to the Timișoara Court of Appeal, the notary collected the income tax from these transfers monthly between March 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023, but did not make the payments within the legal deadline of 60 days.

The case has been forwarded to the Timișoara Court of Appeal, which will judge the case, and the prosecutors have proposed maintaining the precautionary seizure. The notary is being investigated while free, and the referral to trial does not constitute a conviction.
