Non-compliant rabies vaccine batch delivered to Romania, placed in quarantine by ANMDMR / Romania will receive a replacement batch of 18,600 doses from France

The National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania (ANMDMR) announced that a batch of VERORAB rabies vaccine delivered last week has been placed in quarantine due to non-compliance with the thermal regime during transport.

The manufacturer Sanofi confirmed that the vaccine will be destroyed, and ANMDMR has initiated an investigation. To ensure the continuity of treatments, the agency has approved, in an emergency regime, the rapid import of a replacement batch. Approximately 18,600 doses of VERORAB vaccine will arrive from France during the next week, enough to cover the needs of hospitals in the country until a new delivery. Until the arrival of the new doses, hospitals can redistribute the available quantities among themselves, in case of need.
