Noja Paladia, Romania’s oldest woman, has died at the age of 111.

Noja Paladia, from Cugir, officially recognized as Romania’s oldest person and the first female supercentenarian in the country’s documented history, has died at the age of 111. The announcement was made by representatives of Cugir City Hall, who extended their condolences to the family.

Born on July 20, 1915, Paladia Noja lived for more than a century and lived through two world wars. Her life was closely tied to the Cugir community, where she was known for her longevity and for the support she received from her family until her final moments.

Her age and life history were verified by the Gerontology Research Group, an international organization that included her in its ranking of the world’s longest-lived people. According to information cited by Alba24.ro, Noja Paladia was also certified as the oldest person in the Balkan region.

Her family legacy spans four generations. Cugir City Hall described her passing as the end of a rare chapter in the history of the city and of Romania.
