The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, announced on Friday, after the CSAT meeting, the closure of the Russian General Consulate in Constanța, as a first measure after a Russian drone hit an apartment building in Galați.

"We had a serious incident in which two Romanian citizens were injured. The entire responsibility lies with Russia, which is waging an aggressive war against Ukraine. The Russian consul general in Constanța has been declared a persona non grata. The Russian General Consulate in Constanța will be closed," said the President of Romania after the CSAT meeting.

We remind that Nicușor Dan announced on Friday morning, a few hours after a Russian drone hit an apartment building in Galați, the convening of the CSAT meeting.

In his first reaction, Nicușor Dan stated that all NATO allies and partners from the European Union have been informed about the incident, and Romania has formally requested that allies deploy additional anti-drone capabilities on national territory, to strengthen our defense and the Eastern Flank of the Alliance, in accordance with SACEUR's instructions. Last but not least, the President stated that Romania will officially inform the United Nations Security Council about "this brutal and repeated violation of international law by the Russian Federation."
