The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, declared that he will not make an immediate decision regarding the country's accession to the Board of Peace initiated by Donald Trump, which involves a tax of one billion dollars. In a statement, Dan announced that he has begun a detailed analysis of the Charter of the Council, taking into account Romania's international commitments, especially towards the UN, OSCE, and EU.
This tactical delay precedes an extraordinary European Council, where he will discuss with other European leaders. Depending on these discussions, he will decide whether to reject Trump's offer or accept a temporary mandate of 3 years, focusing on security in Gaza. The Board of Peace has an atypical structure, led by Trump, and has invited about 60 countries, including Romania, to join.
