President Nicușor Dan expressed, in a message on platform X, his deep sadness following the devastating fires in the province of Almería, Spain, which have resulted in loss of human lives and affected entire communities. He emphasized Romania's solidarity with Spain and with the residents of southern France, Portugal, and Greece, who have also been affected by recent fires.

Nicușor Dan reaffirmed Romania's willingness to assist European partners in facing the challenges posed by climate change. Following the fire in Almería, which resulted in the death of at least 12 people, the King of Spain and the royal family held a minute of silence in memory of the victims. Authorities continue the search for 19 missing persons, while approximately 500 firefighters are working to control the fire, under conditions of increased risk due to extreme weather.
