President Nicușor Dan states, in a message delivered on World Education Day, that education represents the foundation of a society that builds its future responsibly. The head of state emphasizes that school’s role is not only to transmit knowledge, but also to shape adults capable of thinking freely, asking questions, and seeking the truth.
The presidential message focuses on the need to develop critical thinking and discernment, in a context in which manipulation and disinformation are spreading rapidly, while trust in science is declining. Nicușor Dan considers it important for new generations to learn to distinguish between opinion and evidence, cultivate their curiosity, and view the diversity of ideas as an opportunity for dialogue, not as a source of division.
The president also draws attention to the impact of the accelerated development of technology. He says that young people must be supported in developing their creativity, being adaptable, maintaining their optimism, and being able to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
In the same message, Nicușor Dan highlights the difficult and essential role of teachers in shaping generations of students. He thanks them for their effort and involvement and conveys a message of appreciation to all those who, through education, bring people closer together, strengthen bridges, and open new horizons.
“The role of teachers is as important as it is difficult. I extend my gratitude to them for the effort and dedication with which they raise and guide generation after generation. Happy anniversary to all those who, through education, bring people closer together, strengthen bridges, and open new horizons!” says Nicușor Dan.
