President Nicușor Dan announced that Romania will participate in the joint effort by NATO member states to provide Patriot interceptors to Ukraine. He made the statement after attending the inaugural summit of the Carpathian Integration Initiative, organized at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state said that Romania’s donation will be determined proportionally to the contributions of the other NATO countries that possess Patriot systems. Romania is among the states participating in this joint effort.
Nicușor Dan also spoke about cooperation between Romania and Ukraine on drone production. According to the president, Ukrainian companies and Romania’s Ministry of Defense are already in contact, while administrative procedures are being streamlined through the existing cooperation framework.
Asked about the drone that exploded at the Port of Constanța, Nicușor Dan said that the institutions involved had prepared an internal report, with a public component and a classified military component. Based on the document, Romania sent a series of questions to the Ukrainian authorities to fully clarify the incident. They are continuing to analyze the situation, and the issue was discussed by the Romanian president during a bilateral meeting with the Ukrainian side.
