President Nicușor Dan had a meeting on Friday with Numan Kurtulmuş, the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, at the Cotroceni Palace. The dialogue reconfirmed the lasting friendship and Strategic Partnership between Romania and Turkey, established in 2015.
The main topics discussed were regional stability and security in the Black Sea, considering the shared responsibility of the two countries as NATO allies and riparian states. Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of cooperation within the Operational Group for combating naval mines in the Black Sea.
Additionally, the president highlighted the solidity of the economic partnership, mentioning that Turkey is Romania's most important trading partner outside the European Union. The relations between the Turkish-Tatar communities in Romania and the Romanian communities in Turkey are seen as a source of inspiration for the future of the partnership.
