Nicolae Păun, the leader of the Roma Party 'Pro-Europa', participated in a meeting of the Government Coalition, where he raised the issues of the Roma communities in Romania. Among these are the alarming increase in school dropout rates and fiscal inequalities, with Păun emphasizing that local taxes and fees for Roma do not reflect living conditions. He requested that these taxes be reduced, considering the lack of legal documents for the housing of Roma and the absence of basic infrastructure.
He also urged the Government to ensure that mayors issue property documents for Roma living on unlegalized land. Păun highlighted the importance of implementing the National Strategy for Improving the Situation of Roma, stating that representatives of UDMR, PSD, and minorities support these efforts.
