Starting today, Romania hosts the NATO exercise 'Sea Shield', mobilizing over 2,500 troops from 12 allied countries, including Italy, France, Germany, and the United States. The purpose of this exercise is to simulate the Alliance's reaction to a Russian attack in the Black Sea, a strategic and tense area. In the first week, the Romanian Naval Forces will operate alone to repel an attack, and in the second week, allied forces will join them.

Participants will rehearse complex scenarios, such as mine destruction and live ammunition firing, including air insertions with helicopters transporting troops to frigates. The Black Sea remains a risk area, and the Minister of National Defense emphasized that Romania can provide expertise in these operations, thus contributing to regional security.
