Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan highlighted the necessity of maintaining a strong government, led by Ilie Bolojan, to strengthen the economy and state institutions, considering the increasing aggression from Russia.

Mureșan compared Romania's situation to that of the Republic of Moldova, which, after starting pro-European reforms, has been subjected to hybrid attacks from Russia, including the use of gas supplies as a pressure tool. He emphasized that Romania is at a crucial moment, needing reforms and investments to enhance the country's security and defense. Mureșan accused the anti-European and pro-Russian parties in Parliament of contributing to the removal of the Bolojan government, the most reformist in the last three decades. He warned that Russia continues to use intimidation and blackmail to weaken Romania and stressed the importance of continuing reforms to ensure national security. Mureșan concluded that Romania will only be safe by strengthening institutions and implementing measures that enhance security, such as the European SAFE program.
