Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan emphasized the importance of the protests on August 10, 2018, when hundreds of thousands of Romanians took to the streets to defend justice and the rule of law against the attacks of the PSD. Mureșan highlighted that Romanians from the country and from the diaspora mobilized to support democracy, recalling that these protests were preceded by a series of massive demonstrations, starting in February 2017, when over 600,000 people protested against Emergency Ordinance 13, which decriminalized corruption.

He reminded that Emergency Ordinance 13 was adopted by the government led by Sorin Grindeanu, the current president of the PSD. Mureșan warned that Romanians must not forget the past and emphasized that every politician should be judged by their actions, not by their promises, reaffirming that August 10 remains a memorable date in the recent history of Romania.
