Mugur Isărescu, the governor of the National Bank of Romania, earns a net monthly salary of 85,238 lei, equivalent to 17,100 euros, making him better paid than French President Emmanuel Macron. In addition to his salary, in 2023, Isărescu also had a pension of 322,097 lei, totaling a significant annual income. With a career spanning more than three decades as governor, Isărescu is the longest-serving in this position worldwide.
