MoD: The drone that entered Romanian airspace was safely shot down in an unpopulated area.

The radar surveillance systems of the Ministry of National Defense detected on Saturday, at 08:22, a new unauthorized incursion into the national airspace by a drone operating near the border with Ukraine. Two F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft of the Romanian Air Force intercepted the target and carried out standard identification and neutralization procedures, and the drone was shot down safely in an unpopulated area near the border.

The Ministry of Defense specified that teams from the institution will conduct checks in the impact area and that they are continuously monitoring the situation in the airspace in coordination with allied structures.

This is the second drone neutralized by an F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force.
