Mircea Abrudean, the president of the Romanian Senate, had an official meeting with Ilham Aliyev, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where they discussed important aspects for Romania's foreign policy. Abrudean thanked Azerbaijan for its support in unblocking negotiations for the Black Sea - Caspian Sea Corridor Agreement and emphasized the importance of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

During the discussions, Abrudean highlighted collaboration opportunities, including an electric cable project that will connect Azerbaijan with Romania and Hungary, facilitating the delivery of renewable energy. He emphasized the need to strengthen interparliamentary ties and to expand cooperation in various fields, such as digitalization, advanced technologies, agri-food, tourism, and the defense industry.
