On Wednesday morning, the weather station in Miercurea-Ciuc recorded a minimum temperature of minus 9.7 degrees Celsius, setting a new record for October 21. Previously, the record was minus 8.5 degrees, recorded in 1949. This is the second consecutive day in which the temperature record has been exceeded, after Monday recorded minus 9.2 degrees, breaking the record for October 20 of the same year.

The drop in temperatures was caused by a cold air front, under clear sky conditions and stable atmospheric pressure. Other locations in Harghita also had negative minimum temperatures, such as Joseni with minus 7.9 degrees and Toplița with minus 7.5 degrees. The weather forecast for the coming days indicates a slight warming, with temperatures dropping to minus 4 degrees Celsius.
