Metrorex has launched a tender for security services with an estimated value of 250,948,368 lei (approximately 50,400,000 euros), covering a period of 36 months. The announcement was published in the Electronic Public Procurement System (SEAP) and aims to ensure the security of all the objectives of the underground transport company in Bucharest.
The tender comes in the context of criticisms from former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who questioned the necessity of an "army of guards" at Metrorex. This new procurement is 38% more expensive than the previous contract, which was won by the association of Senzor Guard Security, Akyle Security, and Tetra Sistems Guard, at a value of 181.58 million lei.
The deadline for submitting offers is July 14, 2026. Bolojan emphasized that there are many aspects that can be improved within Metrorex, casting doubt on the justification for the large number of security agents.
