The mayor of Vaslui is accused of excessive spending on medical tests, citing an alleged poisoning.

The mayor Dănuț Cojocaru from the commune of Alexandru Vlahuță, Vaslui County, is accused by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bârlad Court of abuse of office, forgery, and use of forgery, having been sent to trial for the illegal expenditure of over 70,000 lei from the local budget on complex medical analyses in recent years. These costs are considered exorbitant compared to the usual amounts allocated for occupational medicine in other similar institutions.

The mayor justifies these reimbursements by claiming that he was systematically poisoned with mercury and arsenic by a subordinate, which led him to conduct detailed tests for both himself and his employees. Although investigators have closed the case regarding the alleged poisoning, denying the existence of a conspiracy, the mayor maintains the accusations, while the case regarding the damage caused to the mayor's office is in preliminary chamber proceedings at the court.
