The object that exploded was a drone of the type used in the war in Ukraine, according to the Ministry of National Defense. The area had already been isolated and secured by teams from the SRI, Coast Guard, and MApN, so the explosion did not cause any casualties.
We remind that a maritime drone discovered near the Port of Constanța and the Oil Terminal area self-detonated in the morning of June 5, triggering the activation of the Red Intervention Plan and the mobilization of several security and intervention structures.
Following the incident, the authorities sent a RO-Alert message and recommended the population to avoid the area and to follow the instructions of the intervention forces. Initial information indicates that a tugboat and a hangar near the Oil Terminal warehouses were affected by the fire.
MApN specified that the drone does not belong to the Romanian Army and is not related to the military exercises recently conducted in the Black Sea area. The case is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Constanța Court of Appeal.
The filmed drone is similar to the Măgura drones used by Ukraine.
