The customs officers in Otopeni stopped a man who was trying to board a flight to Dubai with 60,000 dollars and 2,000 euros, amounts that exceeded the maximum cash limit allowed. The man was in the green corridor, designated for passengers without declarations, but during the inspection, he tried to pass the pouch with his child's money, aware of the violation of the law.

The Romanian Customs Authority confiscated the amounts and imposed a fine of 10,000 lei. According to the legislation, passengers entering or leaving the European Union must declare amounts over 10,000 euros or the equivalent. Failure to declare attracts penalties, including the seizure of money and administrative fines.
