The Maramureș County Police announced the arrest of a man convicted of attempted murder, bodily harm, and other offenses. The acts for which he was convicted occurred in November 2010, when the man inflicted several severe blows to a person, causing injuries that required 40-45 days to heal. The court established that he acted with the intention to kill, considering his criminal record.
Following a joint operation between the police in Maramureș and the Italian authorities, the man was located and arrested in Pisa, with the support of the Romanian Internal Affairs Attaché Office in Italy and the National Police of the Republic of Italy. He is now in the custody of the Italian authorities and is set to be subjected to extradition procedures to Romania, according to the European arrest warrant issued in his name.
