Several loud booms were heard on Wednesday morning in Brăila, as artillery systems with a caliber of 100 mm were being checked aboard vessels in the Brăila Military Port.
The River Flotilla announced that the activities were planned and would take place throughout Wednesday. According to the official notice, the verification procedures may produce loud noises resembling explosions or booms.
Representatives of the River Flotilla said that the sounds were related to technical activities carried out aboard the vessels and did not represent a cause for concern for the public. The message was issued after residents of Brăila reported hearing the noises during the morning.
The checks concern the 100-millimeter-barrel artillery systems installed on the military vessels in the port. The authorities have reported no incidents or emergencies associated with these activities and asked citizens to take the official notice into account.
