A local police officer from Iași demonstrated courage and dedication by intervening in a building affected by a fire to save a baby. The fire broke out on the 7th floor of a building in the Nicolina neighborhood, and the residents immediately called 112. At the scene, the officer learned that a mother with a baby had not managed to evacuate the apartment due to the dense smoke.

He took the child from the mother's arms and ran with him towards the ambulance, ensuring that both the mother and another adult were evacuated safely. Officer Alexandru Dan stated that he acted as if it were his own child. In total, seven people needed help to get out of the building. Firefighters responded quickly, extinguishing the fire, which was apparently caused by a forgotten lit candle.
