Laura Codruța Kövesi, Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, criticized the Romanian authorities for delays and lack of cooperation in investigations regarding customs and VAT fraud in the Port of Constanța. She warned that this situation could lead to significant tax losses and emphasized that other countries, such as Greece, have achieved results through effective collaboration.

Kövesi also pointed out that since the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in 2019, she has not received relevant information about Constanța and called for VAT and customs fraud to become a priority for the Romanian authorities.
