András Földes was attacked by a bear near Băile Tușnad, during the unfolding of the 'Tusványos' Summer University. The incident occurred about 100 meters from the locality, while Földes was returning from a run. After noticing the bear, the journalist tried to scare it away by shouting and waving his arms, but the animal continued to pursue him. At the moment he felt the bear might attack, he threw his mobile phone at it, managing to scare it off.
Földes fled towards the locality, where he was helped by a shepherd dog and a group of young people who accompanied him back to retrieve his phone. The incident did not result in injuries, and the journalist celebrated his safe return with a glass of plum brandy. The Băile Tușnad area is facing a constant problem related to the presence of bears, with local authorities implementing measures to reduce interactions with wild animals.
