Irineu Darău, the interim Minister of Economy and USR senator, explained in a broadcast on Digi24 that he reimburses transportation expenses from public funds, as he does not permanently use the services of the Protection and Guard Service (SPP).

He emphasized that constant reliance on SPP would generate much higher costs, which is why he prefers alternatives such as ride-sharing companies or rail transport. Darău mentioned that, during his previous term, he did not spend the lump sum he was entitled to as a senator. He was also unjustly accused of mismanaging public funds, stating that he spent 1,500 lei monthly for offices in Brașov County, where he holds meetings with citizens. He claimed that he had a responsible management of public money, spending 0 lei from the lump sum in the previous term and under 10% currently.
