The Corund stream has increased its flow more than a hundred-fold, causing the Praid salt works in Harghita county to halt operations for safety reasons. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has promised financial assistance for reconstruction. The situation is being monitored and an assessment will be made after the rains stop. The prefect said there is no imminent danger of subsidence, but a crisis cell has been set up to manage the impact on the local community and tourism. The authorities are preparing work to restore the creek bed to protect the salt marshes.
