The Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, detailed the incident on September 13, when a Russian drone entered 10 kilometers into Romanian airspace without being shot down. Although F-16 aircraft were scrambled to intercept the drone, it returned to Ukraine. Moșteanu emphasized that the legislation allows for the downing of drones that illegally enter airspace. Romania frequently faces aerial challenges from Russia. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, condemned the incident, considering it an escalation of Russian aggression.
