Imported cherries have started to appear on the stalls in Romanian markets, with high prices, for example, 180 lei/kg in Cibin Market in Sibiu. Maria, a vendor, claims that cherries are selling quickly, even at this price, but she mentions that Romanian cherries will not be available for at least a month and a half.

In Iași, cherries brought from Greece and Spain are selling for 30-45 lei/kg, five lei more than last year, and prices could decrease towards the end of the season. Romanian producers expect a rich harvest of cherries, which could lead to more affordable prices. Maria encourages customers to taste the imported cherries, stating that they are very tasty and comparable to the Romanian ones.

Last year, the April frost affected cherry production, increasing prices.
