Environment Minister Mircea Fechet said that the pollution wave from the Praid salt works has already reached Blaj and will spread to Alba Iulia and Nădlac. The situation has been generated by massive chloride pollution in the Corund stream, and intervention teams are mobilized to control the impact. Motor pumps have been installed to divert the water flow and reduce the risk of mine collapse. In addition, solutions are being sought to provide drinking water for the 40,000 people affected by the salinity.
