The President of the Young People's Party (POT), Anamaria Gavrilă, lost the lawsuit filed by deputy Monica Ionescu, who was expelled from the party in February for aggressive behavior. The Bucharest Tribunal ruled that the expulsion was illegal, ordering the party to pay court costs.
Ionescu and her husband were accused of acts of violence, and Gavrilă stated that they brought unacceptable behaviors into the party. Recently, Gavrilă also expelled the leader of the POT deputies, Răzvan Mirel Chiriță, due to lack of involvement and non-payment of dues. After these expulsions, the parliamentary group of POT reached 13 members, being close to dissolution, as it needs a minimum of 10 deputies to function. The group in the Senate was already disbanded in May due to the insufficient number of senators.
