Horațiu Moldovan, the president of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), stated that the funding system for hospitals in Romania needs a profound reform, emphasizing that 50% of resources are used for managerial inactivity, not for medical services. The statements were made at the 'HEALTH FORUM' event, where Moldovan highlighted the financial risks faced by hospitals, including the possibility of running out of funds.

He proposed that CNAS become a player in the field of complementary health insurance, which could bring additional resources. Moldovan mentioned that CNAS has conducted a detailed analysis of the activity indicators from hospitals, which will be available online for transparency. He encouraged competition in the health insurance sector, including with private entities, to improve the system.
