A 30-year-old man from Cluj died on the beach in Thassos, shortly after he was spotted unconscious in the water.

The young man, who had been married for two months, was on vacation with his wife and friends when he began to feel unwell in shallow water. A friend saw him floating and intervened, but although he managed to get to his feet on the beach, he quickly became unconscious. His wife, Eliza, said she refused to believe he had drowned, noting that he had called for help. Resuscitation efforts by rescuers were in vain. The man was active in the community and studied political science.
