The Council Tower in Sibiu, a historical monument, hides on its roof a "time capsule" from 1826, which details the rehabilitation works of the tower. The document, mentioned by the ethnographer Emil Sigerus in his book from 1928, could be recovered during the current works; however, officials from the Sibiu City Hall have stated that its management will be decided after consulting specialists. The tower, which was originally a city gate, has undergone multiple renovations over time, including a reconstruction after its collapse in 1586. The current roof, completed in 2026, replaced a temporary roof that lasted 30 years. The 1826 document also mentions a legal dispute resolved between local communities, providing insight into the historical context of the time.
