The Municipality of Bucharest has announced the start of the renovation works for Herăstrău Park, the largest park in the capital. The first phase will involve draining the lake in the next two to three weeks to allow for interventions on the bank protections and to carry out technical expertise on the pontoons and docks. The announcement was made after a public debate and a meeting with Mayor Ciprian Ciucu. The municipality intends to hire experts to develop a management plan and a master plan that will include interventions on paths, urban furniture, playgrounds, lighting, and vegetation. The mayor emphasized that the current state of the park is unacceptable and promised the completion of the master plan within three to four months. Additionally, the placement of a statue of King Michael I is being considered. The renovation is necessary, considering that the park's infrastructure has not been modernized for decades.
