The National Company Bucharest Airports announced the signing of the contract for the largest airport infrastructure project in Romania, which targets the new terminal of Henri Coandă International Airport.
The project, estimated to last 10.5 years, will transform the airport into a modern regional hub, capable of handling an annual traffic of 30 million passengers by 2040. The new terminal will have an area of 176,000 square meters and will be able to process up to 6,500 travelers per hour, having 48 aircraft parking spots and 20 boarding gates. The comfort standards will be comparable to those of major European airports, including advanced baggage handling systems and security control. The project will integrate road and rail connectivity, facilitating access to public transport.
Design services will be provided by a consortium led by Leviatan Design and Ubitech Constructions.
