On Friday, the government approved, through a memorandum, a 6.5% pay increase for Oil Terminal employees, the largest oil terminal on the Black Sea. The measure applies in November–December 2026 and aims to address employees’ demands, ease the labor dispute and ensure continuity of crude oil and petroleum product import-export operations.

Government spokesperson Dan Cărbunaru said the increase would raise the company’s wage costs by 1.7 million lei. The decision was also based on the company’s strategic nature, amid a complicated international and regional context.

As of December 31, 2025, Oil Terminal had recorded a net profit of 24.64 million lei and had no outstanding payments. For 2026, the company estimates a gross profit of 15 million lei, and the government says the pay increase will not affect this forecast.

According to the authorities, the additional costs will be covered from the company’s own resources. The measure aims to retain qualified staff and maintain stable labor relations in order to avoid disruptions to the oil terminal’s operations.
