Jess, 38 years old, from Selby, North Yorkshire, taught for six years in primary education, but the heavy workload and administrative responsibilities led to fatigue and difficulties in family life. After losing 50 kilograms, she started selling clothes on the Vinted platform, earning £600 in the first month. She then expanded the business by buying items from charity shops, reselling them on Vinted, eBay, Depop, and Whatnot, focusing on vintage and Y2K style clothing.

In almost two years, the business has generated revenues of £118,000, with monthly earnings of £5,000-£6,000, double the salary of a teacher. Jess completely left teaching in May 2025 and invests between £500 and £700 monthly in clothing. The flexibility of her schedule allows her to attend her children's events, and part of her earnings is reinvested in the business. Jess also offers advice on TikTok and is part of an online community of resellers.
