The ceremony of homage to Ion Iliescu, former President of Romania, took place at the Cotroceni Palace, with the participation of officials and citizens. The coffin, covered with the Romanian tricolor, was laid in the Union Hall, where religious services were held. Public access will be allowed on Wednesday and the burial will take place on Thursday, August 7, in Ghencea Cemetery, in the presence of the family. Ion Iliescu died at the age of 95, having been involved in legal controversies related to the events of 1989.
