The former president of the Romanian Customs Authority (AVR), Mihai Savin, along with two other public officials, has been sent to trial by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal for acts of intellectual forgery, use of forgery, and complicity in the use of forgery.
According to prosecutors, Mihai Savin and an executive director from the Galați Regional Office of the AVR allegedly falsified two official documents to facilitate the annulment of traffic sanctions received by a counselor from the same institution. The investigation revealed that the falsified documents certified a "so-called operational situation, with a high degree of risk," as well as a fictitious mission, aimed at justifying the illegal actions.
