The Public Health Directorate (DSP) Iași announced that it has identified Salmonella enterica group C in patients hospitalized at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Iași, following an epidemiological investigation triggered by several reports of food poisoning. The spokesperson for DSP, Marius Voicescu, mentioned that out of the six nasal swab samples collected from the hotel employees where the event took place, two tested positive for Staphylococcus aureus.
The investigation was initiated after a wedding recently organized, and so far 14 people have been hospitalized in hospitals in Iași, Râmnicu Sărat, Huși, and Brașov, while another 33 are showing mild symptoms at home. Food, water, and sanitation samples are under analysis, and complete results will be communicated at the beginning of next week. DSP continues investigations to establish necessary measures.
