Former Prime Minister Florin Cîțu said there is a risk that VAT will soon rise to 24% and pensioners with pensions over 3,000 lei could be forced to pay health contributions. Cîțu criticized the Bolojan government for the lack of serious reforms in the management of budget spending and warned that raising taxes is not the solution, given that Romania has already been sanctioned by the European Commission for fiscal slippage. He stresses the need to cut spending, not raise taxes.
