Former president Traian Băsescu issued a severe warning to employees in the public sector who are protesting for salary increases, stating that the state does not have real resources for these increases. On TVR Info, Băsescu emphasized that any amount requested by the unions is borrowed, mentioning that Romania does not produce the necessary money for the payment of current salaries.

He criticized the union leaders for not recognizing that the current salary law includes bonuses in salaries, which leads to confusion between salaries and income. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of teachers and education employees protested in Bucharest due to dissatisfaction related to funding and the non-compliance with the salary grid. The situation is becoming critical, threatening the conduct of national exams. Additionally, Romania is facing the highest inflation in the European Union, which severely affects the purchasing power of citizens.
