Florian Coldea, former deputy director of the SRI, was present on Monday, October 27, at the Bucharest Court of Appeal for the first hearing in the preliminary chamber procedure in his case. Alongside him, lawyer Doru Trăilă and businessman Dan Tocaci are accused by the DNA of forming an organized criminal group, influence peddling, money laundering, and extortion. Retired General Dumitru Dumbravă, also accused in the case, passed away on September 26 due to health issues.
The chief prosecutor of the DNA, Marius Voineag, stated that the case is well-founded, mentioning precautionary measures amounting to approximately 500,000 euros and 1.5 million lei. Coldea later accused the DNA leadership of wanting to turn this case into a "trophy" to justify their retention in office.
